Connections

“Connections”, Henry, is a canvased sculpture that offers a visual demonstration of the Chaos theory through repetitive sewing of wire on wood.

The Choas theory states that states that a minor initial condition in one location can cause a significant outcome in another. It gives butterflies in Africa the opportunity to contribute to the cause of a tornado in Taxes, US. The effect might not happen instantly, but is real and may take a long time. The human life is a more significant demonstration of this theory- the decisions we make on a day to day basis affect what we become and also the people we interact with regularly or at a single glancing moment.

The Chaos effect and repetition inspired the creation of this sculpture. Henry mainly works towards pieces that contain a repetitive action. In this scenario, he drilled numerous holes into a wooden panelled canvas then, sewed wire into it as if it were a string. Later, he bent each line of visible wire countless times to give the work its rigid effect. The navy blue half-border represents a struggle to confine
of the theory within the piece.
